mammoths longbows and "surprise attacks"

Postby evangili » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:23 pm

well mammoths , need either tons of ua, very high hp => diff to kill but arent very fast = grouphunting with bows is best strategy to kill them (i mean at least 3 players with high marksmanship and hq arrows and bow, else 10 players with low mrksmanship etc. [might be exaggerating])
IMPORTANT: avoid water (cant kill from boats), can be spawned only in mountain terrain and wont leave +gain huge speed buff / debuff when climbing up/down hillsides and can jump cliffs (so that you dont just lure them near cliffs to kill them)
together with mammoths there shoudl be a new weapon called longbow that needs a LOT of time to charge, cant be charged from water (needs perfect standing) and deal HUGE amounts of dmg (in ordeer to make mammoth hunting only viable with longbows, still needs skill precision and group work)
hunting traps: would be nice to have (like making small traps for rabbits)

surprise attacks: if anyone has played battleknight u might guess what my idea is
u can select where u will attack your opponent for a small to moderate amount of dmg {head main body feet} and the defender can either use big defenses for one part of body that last until u change the part or normal ones
ps my idea is not completely formed yet, pls help me improve it :)

Sounds good to me, I think herds of Mouflon should also spawn on mountains

How would you make a longbow though? We have a Ranger's Bow that does something like 300 base damage (read 600+ actual damage after substance, arrows, and perc) and is made of steel nuggets. Nowhere up to go from steel nuggets resourcewise, really.

not neccesarily. basicaly mammoths would have so much hp that you cant kill even with rangers bow. longbows must not be very hard to craft, for example cast iron but arrows would need nuggets to craft (the better the nugget the more dmg it will deal) the thought about mammoths is more to make people organise hunting with each other and spending much time to kill a single mammoth, but materials gathered from it would have high q and would be worth. the only prob i found is that a hermit must team up with smne else if he wants mammoth materials

ps dont forget longbow must be VERY slow in order to do TONS of dmg so it can be usefull only for grouphunting, not pvp and such

right, because jorb has that kind of time.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
