Haven Marketing Suggestion

Postby Raffeh » Thu Dec 03, 2015 7:31 pm

Understandably Haven marketing funds are low or non-existent and they rely solely on word of mouth from players.

Now I have seen a strategy in many other games where they will give away points for votes on particular gaming websites.

For example a player will be able to vote for there particular favourite game and this will raise them on the ranks for that website ensuring players looking for a new game will see it and give it a try.

Once a player has voted and depending on how complicated the voting process is will receive a certain amount of points stored on their Haven account. These points can then be saved and traded for cosmetic items such as the hats in the store.

Not everyone will do this of course but people especially new people will. This may allow for wider awareness of the game and in turn new players.

This may have been suggested before but

I was under the impression jorbtar wanted to polish a lot more out of this iteration of the engine before fully throwing it at the general public.

As for the idea itself regardless of wether immediately applicable, seems okay in terms of already giving the game some reviews and rating for new players to use as a guide, but tbh it sounds like a logistical mess when validating what gaming site account links to what game account and if they indeed voted favorably. I liked Salem's approach instead where well written reviews and posts related to the game on forums/media sites with lots of viewers got some dev discretion reward

The game isn't suitable for marketing just yet. The noob attrition rate will be too low. Jorftar are planning to make the newbie experience a lot more intuitive before they try to do anything about the low population.
