dual sword skills?

just tossing it out there to make dual swords not just cool looking, but a viable choice instead of just sword and shield, have an attack thats on par with cleave(since no shield)(blue and red or red and yellow?) that averages the quality of both swords (so its not too OP) with strength and/or dexterity (maybe add in scimitars for the Drizzt fans? :P)

Back in w7 villager asked me to craft two steel swords. Assuming he knew what he was doing, I complied. When I gave them to him, he promptly equipped them both and said he was going to dual wield.

I managed to forget this but a while ago it came up when I conversed with person who also was in that village. He said Mr. Dualwield also took Merchant's Robe which he neither bothered to return before quitting the game shortly after getting the pair of swords. No reason to be mad for something that happened ages ago and it's good lesson I think.

More on-topic, Wikipedia says "The use of two weapons simultaneously confers no notable advantage to the user as compared to more conventional means such as using a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon and a shield." and I can't see smart way how dual-wielding could be implemented.

Btw there are indeed successful double wielding schools irl, google "niten ichiryu" and " medieval fencing manuals with pics".

If dual wielding swords would work better than shield & sword. They would have been used in historical battles.

If you know how to fight with two potatoes im sure youre better than average man with shield and sword

another thing is its much easier to train someone with a shield and a sword/mace(formations and such for typical frontline warfare) than to dual wield because of its high skill cap(and high endurance/stamina), and i think they were used during the wars between england and the french as commando/  mercenary units

Specifically because of the high skill cap is why dual-wielding did not see much use in actual combat besides for the shock and awe factor when that one guy finally gets it right.
Not everyone can be that one guy. It's not something a rank and file soldier would ever learn, or be taught simply because of how much longer it would take to teach and master compared to good ol' sword and board.
Personally my only experience with using dual wielding is the use of two tonfas, and even after a year, my non-dominant arm could probably take a swing after three to five strikes from my dominant one, otherwise it just stays still and is used to block things.

If dual wielding is ever implemented, I'd like for it to use companion weapons instead of actual weapons, like say, a sword breaker.
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.
