stone axes are the base all-purpose tool, and they're the right size for thrown axes, so why not make them a weak throwing weapon too? can be extended to metal axes as well.

I'm not opposed to throwing axes. But they should be metal and specific to the task. A throwing axe is not the same thing as a construction and general purpose one.

You don't need specialised stuff to throw it at people/animals, just some practice to get the rotation right...
