Renown and Social endgame

SO there is nothing to do now apart from kill people/watch your numbers go higher/help other peoples numbers go higher.

This is kindof an odd suggestion for me since normally I don't like non-emergent mechanics in the game that don't *need* to exist but I feel like non-violent interaction needs some kind of encouragement.

The idea is that each hearthling generates renown based on their sqrt(charisma), and (some part of) the renown can be gifted to other hearthlings, by A-H-Give Renown, and then adding a note. On the website there is a searchable leaderboard showing the renown of characters within the world, quadrant, supergrid, etc, and clicking on the character name in the list shows you the notes associated with each renown gift.

Renown does nothing except make you feel warm and fuzzy/proud. The idea is that there could be a reward for music, art, "sport" & cooperation.

Maybe this has a lot of holes, but I think we need to start talking about this at some point.

So, what you're proposing: get more charisma, just to watch your renown get higher, just to help other people get their renown higher. Did I understand correctly? :P


But the overall idea isn't bad, though not particularly urgent comparing to other stuff that needs to be added.

Haha!

The idea is that it hard-codes in something visible on the website you can brag about to other people with, hopefully encouraging helping/entertaining people in order to get more bragging rights.

I'm not sure it is that non-urgent: even if they "fix" siege there should be players who dont want to do that. I have nothing meaningful left to do in game for my own development; do you?

I kind of liked the kingdoms idea where you would vassal people and it didn't really provide much besides this most likely negligible authority boost and a reason to not kill everyone you see.

A per character "scoreboard" could be cool I guess, but it'd probably just demote to "give me your renown and/or die." Not that that would exactly be bad, it'd just have to be intuitive for a newer player, e.g. they really don't understand that that dhelm guy who just ko'd them stole their points, maybe they just wanted to see them on the ground.
