Charter Stone Names

Postby LadyGoo » Tue Jan 12, 2016 8:47 pm

People are already attempting to set up traps by using different case letters. Here is a letter from one of my customers:

Hey again! Had a village mate take the charter. Apparently there's another one some where that is you spell Venetia with a lower case v. There was a person with a bow aimed on our friend that miatyped the charter atone name. Just thought I would warn you. :)

I think there should be done something with the lower and upper case sensitivity.

Unlikely they will fix this, you might have noticed the forum has the same issue. You can't search the name "kaios" you have to search "Kaios" and if it is that ingrained in their game as well as their forum then queue typical "too much work" response.

Making them more picky not a bad idea. Some times being picky is not a bad thing.

Question perhaps being what that something which should be done is. There's no good way of automatically closing off certain namespaces by perceived similarity to an existing Charter Stone name.

I think the question is asking for case insensitivity, which seems fair to me. Case sensitivity makes a very obvious target for duplicating charter stones, whereas aiming for spelling mistakes opens up too many possibilities to cover effectively.

Either they should be case-insensitive, or there should be a list to which you can add most used charterstone names to avoid misspelling traps.
