PVE Server

Postby flagmaster » Wed Jan 20, 2016 6:57 pm

To address the following issues:
1) New and casual players quit playing after being killed
2) A lot of mechanics are implemented to protect way too weak players sacrificing fairness
3) Social interaction and socializing is hindered due to mistrust and risk

I propose to make a PVE server.
Main rules would be:
1) Murder is turned off completely.
2) Knockout time is a bit longer
3) Theft takes 25 hhp
4) Vandalism takes 50 hhp
5) Palisade soak +5
6) Ram cost *5

When new players are accustomed to the game rules they can transfer their char to normal server
Transfer between servers is one-sided (PVE -> normal) and can be done only once.
Account must have active sub
Only one character is transferred, but with all equipment and inventory.

Ruleset can be implemented easily. These rules even can be extracted to server config file to maintain the same code base.
I dunno about hosting prices for Hafen server, but since it may attract lots of carebears it may be worthy.
Hardcore players will get normal server mechanics with a balance fair and focused on effort == reward, skill == victory, instead of overprotecting the larpers.
Oh, and devs would always have an excuse: The rules are too harsh for you? Please go to PVE server :) Once upon a time it was in AoC

nope
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Pvp is part of haven.
Only one main server.

Simple as releasing legacy code.

I would request a PVP server :
- no more brick walls
- no more alt vault : inventory drop to the ground when loging out
Lets play the game as it was intend to be played, people outside, fighting all day for there life.

i think the pvp idea would be fun. why not just lower the soak on brickwalls or make an easy wall destroying mechanism

bring back travel weariness and have ancestry play a bigger part ^^
