Area names

How about sperating the world in region. For example the starting area is the "plains of the gods".
That way there is a scale and a position for the player. When ppl want to meet they would have a starting point like i am in the XY region. That way it would be easier to find trading partner cuz there would atleast be a rough descrption of my position.

We've been careful with establishing global information like place names and whatnot. Idk.

The best way I could think of this working is placing some sort of special area namer thingy that names either a large square or all same tiles (if placed on a green grassy tile it names a region of all green grassy tiles attached to it) and then entering the region named by the..err..thingy...would display a similar "entering/leaving region" message to village claims.

Would be kind of cool to place a flag on a mountain so every time someone walks on it it says they are on Mount Jorbisnoob or something like that, either as some fun rp thing or just to eff around.
