Inventory trash option

I was leveling the ground, and, if you do that, you know how boring it is, you allways need to place the dirt in the stock pile, so, why not a destruction/trash option on inventory?

So, why did i use terraria for example?
Because Terraria have an interesting trash system, when you place an item in the trash it will be like an inventory space, but, if you place one item above it, it will vanish (destroyed)
But can't they use it was an addicional slot?
Maybe, but you can place a timer, so every "?" minutes/seconds the item will vanish.
