after played for about 3 months and reading the forum for just as long, i've noticed one of the biggest gripes is that there is a determined "best curio" and that all other curios are never used, citing that once you can get the best, there's no need to use the others
i have a few ideas on the topic:
first, just like the early "discovery" system to get initial LP, there should be a curio discovery system. the first time you study a curio, you get a bonus LP, say 2x regular LP. anything really.
second, just like eating a variety of food gives you a bonus, studying a variety of curios should give you a bonus. studying the same curio over and over should make that curio worth less.
third, LP gain by quality gives a predetermined/calculatable LP gain. i feel a totally random, uncalculatable variable in lp gain would make characters study different surios for the potential of random bonuses
fourth, qualities. perhaps isntead of having the average of all 3 stats determine how much extra LP gain you recieve, each quality can determine time, mental weight, and LP gain.
basically, having curiosities that can be calculated by LP/hour or LP/slot mean there are definite bests are worsts, which make 90% of curios useless. if there was a factor which could drastically change what these could be, maybe people would be incentivized to use different curious.
or, get rid of the curiosity system and find a whole new model for experience. your choice
