Please bring back legacy system for wells pls. This one is not working or is very confusing.

Would BE nice to get old one back. Or make dowsing rods work better...

Dowsing rod works, but you have to move slowly: only 1-2 tiles every time you get a reading.

Yes if used properly it leads you to squares, but in my experience these rarely allow wells.

I dowsed all around by base and tried 6-7 of the spots it pointed me to and each time it says the water still ran too deep when I actually tried placing the well.

It points you toward the highest point in the local watertable. Not necessarily to a point where you can build a well.
