Lumberjack credo - possibly will ruin the wilderness?

Postby DeadlyPencil » Tue Oct 10, 2017 6:08 am

the amount of trees i have chopped down in the last few days is staggering. some quests i have been asked to fell 12 trees, which i sometimes abandon simply because i dont want to destroy 12 rare trees, i could, but i would feel horrible doing it. i probably have cut down over 50+ trees in the last few days, and i got more to do.... currently its asking me to chop down 9 plum trees. i currently have 8 quests per level, what if people do lumberjack even later, 12... 14 quests per level. and people usually you do more quests per level than that because its best to abandon the beaver teeth and bear tooth quests as those take 30-60 hours to complete.

anyways this credo has started making me feel so bad iam actually going to plant those 9 plum trees instead of chopping down wild ones...

please concider rethinking this quest, i hate seeing spoiled forests all over the place and this credo is going to make players do it....

IMHO, it's actually fun to see the lands being transformed over hearthlings` activities. There are more than enough forests in Hafen to worry about it. We've actually counted once how long would it take for 100(0? can't remember) bots to cut down all the trees in hafen. It'd take a year (or more, can't remember) at the very least of doing so for 24/7.

The thing that should be considered is to decay the stumps.

Add in destroying stumps as one of the credos quest.
But yeah I would not be concerned with trees running out. If it did happen then at least we would get to see an interesting economy spring up around building grade wood.

Sounds like someone needs a dedicated treeplanter around them. Or add in treeplanting quests as nowadays treeplanting is considered an important after forestry activity.

Ruin or improve? Grass is easier to run on.

Yeah, I think planting should be part of this credo too.

Why do I feel like you guys were having this hypothetical discussion to try to force a world reset? ;)

in world 6 you got LP by doing shit (like making buckets) so people set bots to cut down all the trees and they had to do a world reset because no trees were left
