I'd rather have it as a buildable sundial tbh, but see no reason why we can't have both ....

As furniture that shows time when placed outside during the day it sounds pretty good. But if its buildable, then it can't be placed in study. Better would be to add an experience event "Just in time" (or something like this) when checking the time on it.

A buildable sundial would be cute.
