I'd read the article, but the website doesn't like ad-blockers.

Who wants to bet that Ubisoft abandons the plans after a year or two of an engineering team "working" on this and then deciding the social optics are terrible?
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

NFTs are a tool that is situationally useful if a centralized power structure wishes to honour the ledger. "hurr durr facebook says so" is the dumbest argument I've heard to date for randomly implementing NFTs into something that doesn't need it.

How could any hot-blooded male deny such a request under the circumstances.

Says the guy that is playing a game with literal transactions of digital assets for real life money. Games develop economies all the time from Runescape to wow they even become pretty massive with substantial wealth moving around. NFT's seem like the natural evolution of gaming monetization. Squeezing money out of gamers is what they do, NFT's give developers and publishers some capture on those types of revenue streams.

So... you're not playing games anymore, you're working now. And while at that, by doing something noone really needs.

you are wrong - these NFT and blockchain games will be same as the games we are playing now. Top games with beautiful graphics and gameplay. I think Illuvium will be 1st of that kind. You can check Star Atlas trailer on youtube.
