Smaller world map

I suggest making the map at least 50% smaller, the server population rapidly declines after about 3 months of a new world start and the players that are left are so far from each other that often you never see anyone else in game.

I'm sure this has been suggested before.

This will just result in the player population shrinking faster when casuals are being eradicated from the face of the earth in the early world, but I guess at least the moot would get more whiny cry-threads about how the bad raider touched them.

If anything, we need to make the world bigger, so we can go insane from the isolation. :D It would also balance out raiding in a sense, since it would give communities time to build up more out in the boonies, and raiders would possibly find the practice more rewarding once they find a target since they had all that extra time to grow, also they too would be able to hide better in a larger world.

i just went through a ruined village by the sea, the geography was amazing and the architecture used it so well, my archeology instinct wanted to see how the city was before falling

i love empty worlds, would be nice to have ruins tell the players history somehow

I don't want to see you in game. Neither you, nor anybody else.

Check how archeology in Wurm works. Can be interesting addition to the game.

I think it should start small, and expand over time.
One of the most frustrating things about not joining on day 1 is that you find everyone has already explored everything and claimed all the good spots.
If every -let's say for example- 2 months a new continent was added, with a guarantee that newly created alts spawn on it, it would allow for a real fresh start even after several months.

The population decline is inevitable, but I think many would come back after a few months if they had a way to feel like the world was "new".

You can traverse the world in a day on a Snekja / Knarr. Once thingwalls are all discovered, the game world becomes miniscule.
