Let Players Hearth if KOd in Water

Another big noob-killer. If you're KO'd in the water, you're basically dead.
You can't hearth home, which is similar to being KO'd in a dungeon.

Drowning is likely the most common way for new/solo players to die

I don't like this idea. The hearthlings of the hearthland need to pay the price sometimes.

It's a very fun mechanic when you can not die to a 2 meters tall steel axe, which is actually intuitive to fear, but if someone breaks your boat and you have absolutely no clue about the very fun fact that you can only hearth back when knocked out on land, not on water, because nobody ever tells you this and it's literally written absolutely nowhere and you have to find it out in some way, you die.

haha fun

The only way killing someone this way to be satisfying is if they're a competent player, not a newbie. And it doesn't happen.
But having mechanics that push newbies away is good tbh.

I think all boats, minus a dugout should break and let the hearthling hold onto something long enough for them to hearth home before they start taking stamina damage. Allow the floating piece to move slightly, taking chip damage every few tiles.
After it gets destroyed, thats when the real stamina drain happens which can lead into below.

I like the option to hearth home, it should be a limited window though, basically if you dont do it by the time you would wake up normally you would die. Slowly tick away at the HHP while they are K/Od, that way they still suffer from the asphyxiation, the longer you wait to hearth home the worse it gets.

It can be both a teaching moment of the cruelty of H&H, but also a saving grace to some who might of been hit by a bit of lag, or a troll.

+1. Death by boat bashing is excessively cruel and heavy handed when compared to basically any other way you can die.

I also think there should be a way to 'revive' drowned characters within a short time period(30 minutes perhaps). They'll have oodles of asphyxiation damage, but at least you live.

Potential non-lethal way to punish people who would currently drown: give them debuff that prevents them from swimming or entering watercraft.

"You are too terrified of the deeps to do that." (just a suggestion for error message I came up with in seconds.)
The most actively maintained Haven and Hearth Wiki (Not guaranteed to be up-to-date with all w14 changes.)

Basic Claim Safety (And what you’re doing wrong) (I recommend you read it in it's entirety, but TL:;DR: Build a Palisade.)

Combat Guide (Overview, PVE, PVP) (Tells you how to try and escape, and make it less likely to die when caught.)
