Hi!
I liked adding the lactation indicator to the cattle roster, but with the crazy amount of requests under these recent topics you can see that the herder mark might be a more desirable addition. Potentially it would be used way more often in herder's routine.
During long days spent working with cattle in this and older worlds I've been thinking about what can improve convenience of the cattle roster to the point when it's ideal. I have come up with few more potential fixes/improvements.
1) Collapsing unnecessary columns. If in one group of sheep I'm selecting them by milk quality/quality/breeding in other group I'm looking at wool quality/quality/breeding. You simply do not need to see wool % or quantity, as well as meat % and quantity in the first case, they are getting in the way. With other group it is reversing. With pigs, you will like to rather see meat options and milk options will be just getting in the way.
2) Filtering through indicator + numerous option. Basically, same purpose. Micromanaging. You often have different requirements for male/female/youngsters, often you would like sorting from big to small within these groups. It can be toggled by a checkbox.
3) Numbers! Number of entirety and number of selected animals. Must have, there is no good reason to not make it
4) Toggle for colors. Panel with all the colors + none. A huge amount of people are using different fences for different breeding options, see example at #1. When you toggle one color the cattle roster shows just its list, but it doesn't mean that it unmemos other colors. You can go back to seeing the entirety of memo'd animals toggling back to the "none" color.
And of course adding herder marks* to the cattle roster
