Hearth Magic: Silkworms

Its a bit of an ouchie when you go to check all the silk cocoons you set aside to breed for the next generation and literally all of them except for one are a single sex, seeing as its just coinflip luck

Maybe we could get a hearth magic to help with that? Either allowing pre-determination of sex during cocoon stage or just straight up allowing you to transmute the silkmoth you have from a male to a female or vice versa.
God forbid you just had terrible luck and all your silkmoths for this next generation were the same sex. If you dont have any spares at all you're just boned in that situation.

I will +1 this. I breed way too many moths at one time to mitigate this. I also keep a backup set of eggs for emergencies. What sucks worst is when this hits a couple of times in a row to take an amply supply of eggs down to almost nothing. Most likely to happen when you catch your first pair of moths (which is a huge undertaking as a solo or small group). On the flip side, as part of a moderate to large size group, you have the first breeding pair within an hour or two of everyone's random wandering. Maybe do it so that one can do this to the adult moths, too.

Not sure who's offended, pro-transgender side or con-transgender side.

Yes they should be able to choose whatever sex they identify as.

-1 from me
Not like i'm an enemy to myself, right haha..
But when we join the flipcoin game or roll the dice and get the worst result we are not trying to connect to some upperstanding entities to nerf the UNluck
Why it has to be different here. If its given by devs as a flipcoin game I think you either have to deal with it by bringing up some freshly caught stray moths to join the party or just increase your silkmoth production. Leave a cupboard of cocoons alive next time (and again reserve eggs) and I promise you will always have enough of breeding matching moths. Enough to keep creating new generations and rise the q

You always have bug collection to utilize your single ladies or lads.

just increase the silk fillament amount required to make one silk cloth by 100x and the law of big numbers will take care of the variance

Using exp to change sex is to me pretty valid. 500 or 1000 per moth seems reasonable.
