This story probably won't fit, but I'll share it anyway:

I remember seeing children's cartoon where old woman tells girl/young woman to put few strands of hair into milk she churns. She's baffled, but obeys. She accidentally drops the whole wad of hairs into the churn, and it results in deluge of milk/cream.

The old woman had used witchcraft to steal milk from neighbors' cows, the milk was magically stored in their tail hairs and meant to be released over time at the churn.

in generall, if an activity is so time consuming it practically is its own dayjob there should be some rare drops associated with it, that allow whoever does it all day to fill there study without an village to leech of,
makes niche industrys less of an liability, and allows smaller groups/hermits, to break out of the need to forage constantly for their character progress,
