FEP overflow should allow multiple stat gain

Postby Fostik » Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:31 am

Why on earth do we have such an punishing mechanic that once you got your FEP bar full, all other FEP points is just burning?
Such a waste of high quality endgame food and artificial glass ceiling looks absolutely weird in a game where you focus on quality of production and uniqueness of ingredients, you get punished in such a bad game design manner.

Let us receive multiple stat gains from all FEP you get from piece of food, if it exceeds your FEP bar multiple times.

This will resolve a lot of issues this game currently have:
  • Catch up mechanics, you don't need spend same amount of time to gain big boy stats once you have access to late world industry
  • Players are able to focus on high quality and scarce variable ingredient for best food as alternative character development way
  • All others development and leveling up models is still playable with endless amount of useless salads, sausages and other foods
  • Dungeons foods could be really good bounty early world, rather than 10-20 stat level-ups for a group of 10 people.

Previous thread on the same topic.
TL;DR: main concerns were A) too easy to make alts B) early-game recipes become obsolete for everyone not trying out the fresh world experience.

I also have to point out that the lack of any indication of how much FEP you will get without calculating every modifier or having a custom client do that automatically, is that you can easily make and eat foods that overkill your FEP bar 2-3 times. Before starting a feasting session, you should go through every food you can make and find one that is A) easy to make B) fills 100-130% of your FEP bar after modifications (to not immediately die to satiations) and C) raises attribute you need but is not your highest one.

To use sprucecap numbers, if you have roughly all non-PSY attributes at 20, and eat one to 30, it is painful to realize to late there is a food taht one-shots you at 20s for other attributes but not at 30s.
