Overeating and the new hunger system.

We all know about the new FEP/Hunger changes, i think that they are great, however, there seems to be a small problem with it that i think can be easily fixed.

Whenever you eat, food gives you hunger% based on the amount of FEP that it gives, but not the amount your character is actually using. This causes food that is too good to actually be detrimental to who's eating it, cause you're wasting hunger on wasted FEPs.

This would mean that right now, if my character eats a piece of cheese, he would hurt himself more than benefiting from it. I think that in the long run this will create problems related to noob traps and small annoyances on food progression. This will also give some advantage to clients that can reliably calculate how much TOTAL FEP related to your needs each dish is giving, which is something default cannot do.

I think that perhaps hunger gain should be capped to how much FEP you are actually getting from each dish.

Perhaps this is too early but these changes sometimes take a while to happen so the earlier this gets discussed the better.

Thoughts?

Variety food exists as a concept for a reason. I don't see any issues with the system as current.

This is why there is so many different types of food. So you can eat more property based on your needs... if we were to implement your solution then a huge amount of food would become useless and people would find the single most effective food, using only that.

Satiations and sidedish shortening FEP bar already encourage variety without encouraging, for exemple, that one eats lower quality food in certain cases to avoid destroying their hunger.

I don't think anything would become useless by making big food not be useless for lower stat players lol.

It's slightly annoying needing to have filler on hand when your FEP bar is >80% full, since overfilling wastes hunger. But not a terribly big deal.

Still, would be nice if you weren't 'punished' for overfilling... right?

I agree with Sevenless. Do not nerf variety food bonus (maybe even reduce the diminishing returns at higher levels). The system works very well as is.

Wouldn't it be actually more variety if the little guy could eat better food without filling their hunger bar? Right now optimal eating on new characters is restricted to worse food that fills less hunger, as I understand

Actually I guess that counts forever. Cant wait to add a new feature to my sekret client that does the math on if and how much it will overfill your fep bar when you mouse over food
