Well it was clear it was done to pushback metal qualities skyrocketing early world, it is also known it then brings some inconvenience in late game, but topic I've not seen raised is how it is affecting trade.
Crafting any item/object requiring mold is hard and requires too much resources in order to make it viable for trade. Quite simple items such as frying pan, anvil and hammer are way less common among trading goods on markets.
This brings artificial scarcity and added value which doesn't reflect their true value.
IMO, there should be alternative ways to craft such items, using advanced industries.
