Crafter type character lack endgame gameplay

Postby Fostik » Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:14 pm

As title says, characters that are being developed by raising so called crafting attributes, e.g. perception, dexterity, psyche and will, and skills like sewing, carpentry, lore, farming, etc., (but not limited with them) are lacking gameplay after they reach certain point of development. Once stats reach level of 400, you will hardly ever face any activity requiring more stats, making it pointless to collect more LP and eat food. There is no industry in which you can get profits by continuation of character development, as game only has softcapping mechanics.

As a comparison, miners are able to raise their strength and masonry to much higher values, allowing longer gameplay and character development.
PvE characters will always find a reason to get more fighting stats, for soloing dungeons and killing endgame creatures.
Not to mention PvP characters who are in constant race for stats.

By creating this topic I really would like to avoid devs making higher requirements for gilding and gem cutting as a solution, but to find some other reason that will create a need of raising stats above that values to get high-end results.

what about end game items that have success rate attached to them

like a rosegold robe or 3rd age pickaxe that you have low % chance of succeeding based on a whole bunch of diff stats

I guess if all you did was craft, your end game could be opening a market and trying to get rich off of the stuff you make. You can craft higher quality tools to draw people in.
If you don't want to do that, then I suppose you could try to do everything else? You said that mining has a good end game.

^ pretty retarded response

the whole point of the thread is "craft higher quality tools" caps out pretty quick so further stats dont do anything

a miner char is an entirely different set of credos and stats

ok cool then what the fuck do you want them to add? And then once you finish that next thing what the fuck do you want them to add after?
End game means end of game. If you don't want to engage with 90% of the rest of the game then you finished the game

Trading has nothing to do with endgame, it's just a way of player interaction, but not game designed mechanic. On the contrary, trading goods is a result of end game mechanics that are lack.
I'm also can't come up with idea of what exactly could be done to fix that, though statement "You're crafter just trade, that's your endgame gameplay" is just wrong. It's the same as if there were no other animals than badgers and foxes, and being PvE player you were told "There's no issue man, keep raising your fight stats above 500 and keep fight those foxes and badgers"

The answer is after going beyond a certain stat threshold you unlock new blueprints for clothes that have amazing gilding potential.
Every stat could have their own end game group of craftable items be unlocked.
Dex=clothes
Per=food
Int=curio

Do crafters want to infinitely grind stats? I'm not trying to make an argument they don't, I just genuinely don't know, but it feels unlikely. Most "dedicated crafter" players I've met mostly cared about making their village cool, not so much their character

As I understand people dedicated to raising crafters simply lost interest to the game once they reach desired credos, attributes and skills, as there's not much for them to do in village and game as long as they don't need to eat and study curios. And it's quite a tragedy if there's no trust built to share accounts.
