Give us butchering station with possibility to attach butchering tool.

SO FRUSTRATING TO ASK EVERY NOW AND THEN WHERE IS THE BEST QL AXE.

This would be nice.

And I know this is a not really the point of the thread but it would honestly be fun to extend off this. into a butchery expansion. I am reminded of the vintage story butchery mod.

I know this has been suggested in the past but hey. Skinny hooks, butchery table, different meat cuts.. I mean why not, they love their variety

arguably the sawmill could be used as a gruesome but impromptu butchery station

Support! I recently pooh-poohed a suggestion for adding 'NPC servants' to the game (yes, really), but I'm certainly in favor of the 'stations' concept removing some of the work that bots have traditionally performed. The addition of study desks was huge for QOL of newbs who weren't using study bots.
Every station added will, of course, make it easier to use bots, but it also makes them less necessary for those who don't want to bother.

Vintage Story mentioned!

Tool racks would be a good addition to the game in general.
Meat racks for hanging corpses would be nice, could preserve a corpse from decay longer. Makes it easier to have a big feast, and you're supposed to age meat for a feast anyways

Hmmm.

HMmmmmmmm.

I have thought of meat hooks to hang carcasses, and allow for the retrieval of blood, and that could perhaps provide a speed buff as well.

I mean, I guess we could even (big maybe) provide a butch-o-matic, but unclear how that interacts with personal buffs like e..g being able to retrieve brains/bollocks, additional meat, &c.

Easy. Give us two options.
For small scale operations, a workstation such as a Butcher's Hook should have to be 'manned' while in use, and while manned, the personal buffs and equipment of whomever is manning the station are applied as usual. No speed bonus is applied, but the Butcher's Knife works just fine.

Alternatively, unmanned stations such as a Sawmill should not have any personal buffs applied. These stations are for large-scale operations and confer an extreme (4x? 6x?) speed advantage over traditional methods and workstations at the cost of sacrificing the rewards of small-scale operations. They should have their own, upgradeable, storage attached to them, with perhaps one or more 'manuscript' slots to hold books. For example, a 'butcher's manual' could be placed in said butch-o-matic, providing a small chance (10% or so) of extracting relevant materials. A 'hunter's manual' might increase meat output by 30%.

Crafting such books and manuscripts would require the relevant skills or credos. And, they could also require the use of a printing press to create, and be placed in Bookshelves for easy storage! Further, placing them in or near a study desk should confer new bonuses, such as 'butcher's manual' giving 10% LP boost to a 'brains, bones, and blood' category of curiosity. :)

Shameless plug: Bookshelves.
