I abandoned 16.1 yesterday after a mere 14 days. The speed up was too much for me - I felt like I was on a treadmill, always out of curios, but always needing to service crops that ripened too expletive fast. Fortunately 16 is still running, so I don't need to abandon Haven to get off that treadmill.
Other people's mileage will doubtless vary - I have limited playing time, and limited it still farther by doing basic maintenance on my base on 16. Also, I was in a village of rushers, as farmer - a bad combination for a time limited player, particularly one that wants to do more than just cycle crops *ad nauseam*.
As a time limited hermit I could perhaps have coped by resolving not to harvest anything more frequently than I would have done on 16 - though I'd perhaps have chosen to skip livestock entirely to avoid an accelerated birth and maturation speed.
Overall, this speedup is not a win for players like me. And the rushers will simply reach mine level 9, get bored, and quit, in 2/3 of the time it would have taken them on world 16.
Please don't make world 17 an accelerated treadmill. And please announce the speed of new worlds in future; finding out how fast things went in 16.1 gave me no joy of discovery, and resulted in me letting down my friends when I found I couldn't keep up with the new basic pace of play. If I'd known about the speed increase in advance, I'd probably have had the sense not to join a village there.
