Speed up of 16.1

Postby xyzzy57 » Sat Dec 20, 2025 6:52 pm

I abandoned 16.1 yesterday after a mere 14 days. The speed up was too much for me - I felt like I was on a treadmill, always out of curios, but always needing to service crops that ripened too expletive fast. Fortunately 16 is still running, so I don't need to abandon Haven to get off that treadmill.

Other people's mileage will doubtless vary - I have limited playing time, and limited it still farther by doing basic maintenance on my base on 16. Also, I was in a village of rushers, as farmer - a bad combination for a time limited player, particularly one that wants to do more than just cycle crops *ad nauseam*.

As a time limited hermit I could perhaps have coped by resolving not to harvest anything more frequently than I would have done on 16 - though I'd perhaps have chosen to skip livestock entirely to avoid an accelerated birth and maturation speed.

Overall, this speedup is not a win for players like me. And the rushers will simply reach mine level 9, get bored, and quit, in 2/3 of the time it would have taken them on world 16.

Please don't make world 17 an accelerated treadmill. And please announce the speed of new worlds in future; finding out how fast things went in 16.1 gave me no joy of discovery, and resulted in me letting down my friends when I found I couldn't keep up with the new basic pace of play. If I'd known about the speed increase in advance, I'd probably have had the sense not to join a village there.

no joy of discovery = very very bad, I agree

Nobody wants to tryhard in an experimental world that's been hinted to be shorter. And they increased the amount of chores asked of the player by ~2x. It's pretty mind boggling. It's pretty clear this world is just them saying "hey we don't even know what this is gonna change lol"

Leather and most of the hourglass speed ups were nice. The first few mine pyres being faster was nice too, but after whatever layer gold is on for realms, it should be slowed back down.

The speed up has to be one of their biggest mistake and they listened to the plebs who suggested it, I remember when they mentioned 6 month worlds and a bunch of dumb arses were all like "if you do 6 months you gotta speed everything up" like they can't do everything within 1 month at normal speed? I understand that we are meant to be the guinea pigs for this but my god its actually a nightmare to play 16.1 without feeling extremely overwhelmed with the amount of chores and having barely enough time to do anything else.

They should slow the speed down not speed it up, would make the game much more bare-able for casuals and also give everyone else time to do things they actually enjoy doing.
