Boards and blocks should stack

Postby Dawidio123 » Mon Mar 16, 2026 2:55 pm

They should, they're the most annoying thing to move and building cupboards or cheese racks is a humiliation ritual even with a huge pocket inventory. Realistically? You can store 20 pieces of meat, an equivalent of a whole bear in 4 slots that's also 1 board, 1 bear worth of meat is 1 board in terms of space?. Qol wise? It'd make the building aspects of the game so much less painful than they are rn.
And before someone starts arguing that this would defeat the purpose of the stockpiles, stockpiles are flawed at the core ever since they added stacks, if stacks make a stockpile obsolete then the stockpile is just too small.

There are only 2 anti stack people in the game and they are the developers.

A carpenter's bag? Shoulder strap, firewood backpack.
Similar to existing ones. Put on 2 pieces + inventory and already a good amount can be transferred.

I feel like their size would need to be pretty damn big to be useful carrying extra 4-8 boards doesn't change much, just adding stacks seems like a more elegant solution IMO without excessive inventory bloat.

Yes, stacks are simpler, and no one will refuse them.

Now, with all the Credos and a top-of-the-line backpack, I think you can carry up to 10+ planks. With stacks, you'll get 24-44—that's 7-13 cubic meters of wood. No big guy could carry that much on his back.
(Although this approach, considering the same chunks of meat, rocks, and the like, doesn't really work in Haven.)

Bags are a compromise. Weight distribution. So you're not constantly running around carrying half the house, but only when you really need it. During construction or other "household chores."
A fishing and hunting bag is 6x6 with 36 slots. Make a 4x9 carpenter-lumberjack bag. With two bags, you'll get 18 more planks (or 36 logs), and however much you can fit in your inventory—approximately 24+. You can build 3 cabinets.
Alternatively.

Once again I ask for stack support.
