Client that doesn't require java

Postby clefa221 » Tue Jun 21, 2016 9:12 pm

I have a chomebook that can't run java, so I was wondering if there was any client that didn't require java to run. I understand that the game is based in java, but I'm hoping.

Client is based on java so no, you can not run it without using java.

You could try doing this:

wouldn't work as those given java dl urls are BShitted besides old versions (u45):

if you want to follow their instructions on your own risk here are fixed wget urls for those u45

For the 32 bit hardware on Chrome OS, type in the text:

Code: Select all
“wget http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=106238 -O jre.tar.gz”

; type Enter.

For the 64 bit hardware on Chrome OS, type in the text:

Code: Select all
“wget http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=106240 -O jre.tar.gz“

; type Enter.

latest versions urls here

Chromebooks are actually pretty nice minus the OS. If you just want to browse the interwebs or write up some docs, it has great battery life but other than that it's shit.

As for solutions, dualboot Windows? It'll make things a lot easier for everything.

Actually, from what I can tell even the oldest (Intel-based) Chromebooks use 64-bit processors. I would perhaps not be too surprised if Android still didn't support 64-bit hardware in the older Chromebooks, though. Android is after all primarily ARM-driven, and 64-bittedness on Android phones is a fairly recent thing.

there are few with Samsung Exynos 5 (2x Arm Cortex-A15-Core) like HP Chromebook 11 that don't support 64 Bit Instruction Set
