That is fascinating. I would have never guessed that those kinds of programs would have any interaction whatsoever with the OpenGL interface.

These programs tend to have overlays these days. Maybe the overlay is causing it to crash? Just a random wild guess.

Can confirm the RTSS hook causing trouble, setting "application detection level" to None for java, javaw and javaws disables the hook for java only and you wont need to shut down afterburner or RTSS this way.
