Sprucecap from fir boughs?

Could someone please explain the naming conventions that dictated the designation of "sprucecap"?

This would make sense, given that the cap was actually made from spruce boughs. However, the item is made from fir boughs. Spruce trees and fir trees, while belonging to the same Family, are not the same.

Just thought I'd point this out.

I think they added fir trees after they made the sprucecap, then allowed fir boughs to be used to make it.
