Alright, so underground homes may seem a bit out there at first. But it makes HnH a lot bigger just by decreasing the above ground footprint for more development, and could be low key and well hidden, so a hermit braving the world alone is possible. Perhaps force an exploration*perc check to find the doorway. As for why underground homes? They lessen the footprint above ground, allowing for more development, aside from the small entrance at the surface, and could give cities two stories. Given the character build the right structure accommodations, you could start a mine there, a wine cellar,a..really cellar, or another floor of the underground home another level down, assuming you had adequate statistics.
I'd like to leave the idea pretty general to let it flesh out if anyone has questions though. I suppose my main ambition moving towards underground dwelling is the possibility of it being hard to spot the entrance, the fact it could be near a mine, or a cavern full of underground plant lore ready to explore. I also have played Dwarf Fortress..and,well..this game provides FUN in a similar way. I just like caves. And Underground places. An entirely underground village sounds cool, and plausible, if this game had more plant lore within caves, and bats, and hibernating bears in caves, wandering animals, etc.
Spears. This game needs them so badly. They could have two-three squares of range depending on if its a one handed, or two handed spear. That means you could make a wall of people with swords and shields around someone or something and come in and have spear men behind them, for added tactic. A normal melee attack like punch could be made- stab, where it does 7/10x damage and x stamina use when using a spear, to keep the range balanced. Spears could have a damage bonus against charging animals like boars, since it was a common technique to lift ones spear outward and hold it firm as something charges headlong, into it.
With a little string, a rock, and a couple branches, a primitive spear could be made. This could be an alternative, much HARDER, method of fishing, for newbies, who cant find bone and need fish right then and there.
Special attacks related to spear use could be multiple stabs that have a chance of doing some pretty high damage, but force the person to stand "rigid", in place, tired from the action.
I'll probably add more as I go so I don't post multiple threads, but well, *pours gasoline all over this post*
