Foreign traders and their foreign goods.

Foreign traders and their foreign goods.

Postby saltmummy626 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:34 am

I was thinking about Unreal World and one thing I was trying to figure out was those damn foreign traders, I could never get them to take the hides I had cured. even the ones they claimed to want. Then I though what if H&H had them too?

Here's how it works; depending on the size (max authority) of your village, the number of members, and the combined CHA of your Chief and Lawspeaker, their is a chance that a trader will appear near your village idol in one in game day. sometimes a trader comes, sometimes they dont. you cant attack them, but you can pick their pockets. picking the traders pocket makes him leave immediately. depending on where the trader is from, the goods are different. I'm not talking about traders from around the hearth lands, or from real villages, I'm talking about traders from FAR FAR away. in lands that are not a part of the hearth lands. when you want to trade with the trader, you right click him and he opens up like a barter or trade stand. some traders take coin, some don't. to keep village to village trade going, these traders deal in goods you don't normally find in the hearth lands, AND the goods they trade can be VERY spendy. also the traders wont stay in your village very long, when you talk to them a little timer will show at the top of the trade window to show how much longer you have. well here's what they trade in.

Desert traders
people from the far deserts trade in unique glass goods and jewelry. they tend to take coins or if they are in the market for barter, they take silks, metals, and rare hearth land goods. Desert traders are the busiest peoples, they don't stay to trade for very long.

frozen lands traders
people from the far snow feilds and mountains. the northerners are mighty hunters who deal mostly in barter, they trade away unique hides, meats, and small animals. they may also trade good bows and quivers of fine arrows. the north people like to trade these things for metal and large quantities of common foragables. mostly chants and blueberries. north landers are uncommon.

deep jungle traders
people from the far jungles. these peoples trade away special plants and medicines. they may also deal in exotic foods. the deep jungle people are masters of medicine, and the food they cook is very high in FEP. these peoples are fairly common and like to receive weapons or crops in exchange for there special goods. they also like coins.

the misty hills people
strange people of the far east. they trade in rare colored silks and fine clothing. these people are fairly uncommon, and they like to trade for many hearth land goods. especially jewelry and armor. these people dont stick around for very long.

the deep people
people from the cave empires of the far south. these people trade in rare weapons and armor. They like coins but very rarely will trade for gold, silver, and silk. the deep peoples are very rare and don't hang around to chat as the sun hurts their sensitive eyes.

the ancient peoples
an old sect of peoples, no one knows where they come from or what they trade in. they are very very rare. It is rumored that they trade in items of legend.

Id like some more suggestions for this idea, so far this is what i've been able to come up with, but some comments would be nice.

I haven't played the latest patches, but back in the days a couple of leashed dogs was fairly effective at taking them down. Usually carry salt and weapons and all kinds of goodstuff.

Obviously there won't be any NPCs in H&H, though. :)

@jorb: of coarse, npc's are a pain in the ass, thats not what im talking about, just static objects that look like people. I never bothered much with the foreign traders in UrW, prissy little fuck head always bitching about not wanting my bear and lynx hides...

@jackard: again I never said anything about npc's, they would just be barter stands that appear occasionally next to your idol disguised as hearthlings. no movement, no talking, no fighting. just static objects that look like different sorts guys to give the impression of foreigners. hell they could even be something that appears on the idol so you can right click the idol to access them. As far as i can tell, that is basically what I described. a static object for interacting with.

do you realize what the acronym npc stands for?

here, let me make this perfectly clear for you: if something looks like a player but is not a player, then what you are describing is a npc. a non-player character.
