That's not helping in my case. So I just drop in some more/other details that surfaced on this side. And just leave it at that.

- All normal "New Character" exit, or "Enter world", options are nicely aligned on one side of the cave. ... Could be worse.
- Someone starting a new Character usually knows what he is going to do. Location wise. (new random location, jump to some HF/HS, or scouting out available villages (if any). ... Newbee starters excepted of course. Consolidating the exit options in a single popup menu (linked to Ladder) is not going to change the fact he probably don't knows (yet) what every option will do.
- Without these added/"tacked on" features as area objects ... its might start to feel a little empty. (left: Gender/Name/Cloths/(RuneStone(s))/Ladder. and Sand of course.)

On the other side, expedience wise ... the whole New-character setup could also be dropped/replaced in a single menu popup. :?
-----------
- Gender. [m][v]
- Name. [____]

Spawn:
. Random. [x]
- HS [x] [____]

- Inherit ... (if any)

Fixed it for you.

The point still remains, that they SHOULDN'T have to fucking read 20 pages of info before even starting the game. The entire game in general, and the starter room specifically, is ambiguous and unintuitive as hell. I know a massive ingame tutorial is a long (never) way off, but every little bit helps. He's simply suggesting that the starting room be changed to more clearly reflect the various spawn options. Once you spawn in the wilderness you're stuck there forever. Also just look at how many "How do I find my friend?!?" threads we get on a weekly basis.

Even if they are separate, I'd have thought the trap door more appropriate for "dump you into the wilderness at random" and the ladder more appropriate for "someone has prepared you a civilized entry point"

Didn't the option come in at a similar time to the thorn in the food debuff? That was also awesome ;)
