Mineholes and dark matter

Postby DatOneGuy » Wed Jul 20, 2011 12:13 pm

What the fuck is up with this mineholes only go into pure black space or cave? It's so friggin' ass backwards it's ridiculously annoying. The same goes with not being able to break mineholes, that should be the real way to restrict access, not clogging it up with items around the ladder/hole.

I could think of a ton of reasons why mineholes not going into regular mined tile is strange, and a bad mechanic, starting with design, you have to predesign everything. Everyone who wants a minehole HERE, it better get done before you mine underneath!

Oh new guy moved in and wants a minehole on his plot? SUCKS FOR THAT GUY WE MINED UNDER IT!

The amount of bullshit there is ridiculous, someone could literally cover your outside walls with mineholes and you'd be fucked forever.
Minehole in front of your gate? Good luck getting out, that'll be annoying! Good luck moving animals in/out.

Mineholes are just so `gay` right now. Terrible. Terrible.

Also let us take animals underground cause wtf man

So basically, you're saying that you like mineholes?

I like them a lot, but they are way too open to abuse, and their use is too limited because you'd have to plan it out from the beginning of the server and have no fuck ups, someone digging all the area under your village you don't want dug is alone enough to completely fuck over your plans.

Basically, someone can grief a stable down with plans of downward digging simple by digging straight lines or long snakes every 7 tiles underneath it.

Very bullshit IMO, especially given how long it takes a starting vilage to the first minehole and even an established village it's rather ANNOYING to get one set. Very resource expensive, whereas mining L1 requires a bit of patience and finesse from a cave a bit away.

I'm with DoG on this. Mineholes need some massive work, and really have needed it since the start of the new mining system. I'm sure I could add a couple of other things, but right now, my mind is just full of fuzz from my morning pills.

Well I had originally wanted a minehole on my plot and an extensive cheese setup underground, but basically there wasn't the room to ensure a minehole underground, so then I had to make lonlon (which worked out cause I needed more room than I had), but overall it annoys me to run into those sorts of problems. Particularly when some people might ipick a layer like L1 or L2 and just mine like crazy in any direction looking for metals, problems are bound to arise there.
