If the world edges did "wrap around" (the American term for it, not sure if it's universal), then those issues would be:
What if there were a claim extending over the edge? What side would it go to? It's even more of a problem with a village claim and flags/banners.
What if someone built a wall overlapping the edge? Would it get split?
what if someone built a house overlapping the edge?
Suppose more could be listed, but I think that's enough. Solve those three problems, and you can probably solve them all.

Problem solved? Just have narrow strips of land at the edges to be connected that doesn't allow for anything to spawn or placed on it. It would look weird and unnatural BUT it works.
