but since you posted it:
-if you can't get it on shallow water, how are you going to get in?
-if its that huge(able to build cupboards inside and cupboards can't be lifted when filled) no way to move it to/from water
-huge resource investment for something you can't move away from water, meaning if you work out a way to get in it, they'll be stolen anytime they're seen

way more problems with it, but those 3 are the biggest...

Never noticed mead being suggested so often except maybe by Chak. I would go with bridges.
