considering the steep learning curve, requiring to claim the whole area for palisades would only hurt new players. palisades are easy enough to break, i see no problems with unclaimed palisaded ruins that decay as time goes by.

i am not convinced at all with your point.
1)stops noobs from starting and being locked in some huge palisade unable to actually play the game(yes it happens).
2)stops the huge palisades from blocking off an area with good resources when it can't be claimed.
3)stops people from being able to spawn inside someone's walls to grief them.
1) new players usually have hard time buying yeomanry. and if they need more lp for a big enough claim, they must spend even longer time without any protections. people dont care if it is claimed or not with the current siege system. the issue there is that new players do not learn about sealing, not about claiming.
2) creates more huge palisaded claims which will not decay unless you break into it with black skills and a basher/a ram. makes it impossible for new players to take advantages of the unclaimed ruins with decayed palisades, which i often hear many new players enjoy doing when they start late. you can always start claiming the area after finishing the palisades to stop random spawning and people should be more careful with their hs. we all know claiming gets easier and easier as you continue playing. give them a break. dont force them to have even longer waiting time.
3) griefers grief anyways. they just change their methods.
after all, when you are new, every skill seems very expensive and not much lp comes along as soon as you wish.
once you start walls, you want to finish it asap before some meanies find you. some new players would not be able to finish their walls due to this claiming restrictions which would make it easier for griefers to have their fun.
