Wells and cave map generation

I like the current cave system where the locations underground are directly linked to the locations above ground. Here's a little suggestion to make it even nicer (in my opinion):

At the locations of a well above ground, there should be a small shallow or deep water pond in the cave layer. When a person builds a well above ground, there could be a rope dangling above that little pond with a stream of light coming through the ceiling giving people with the default client a nice little lightened up area :D

I think this would look beautiful and it makes sense too!

would the water nod q be on both?

I think it would be nice if nodes traveled through the layers.

Say there's a stone node on level 1, there's a smaller node on level 2 (say it's 25q on level 1, it might be 27q on level 2, 8q lower) and a stone node on the ground level too.

Although for your suggestion, there would be an awful lot of underground water

I have several spots where I can build wells where I'm currently playing, and pretty much all of them are over my cave, if there is ore in there I don't want it being washed away.

Lol I can imagine water trolls killing your wells...

It makes deep water collectable without putting a boat in there...

or when you are getting water by the well you have 1% chance to get water troll spawned :D

Most wells tap into ground water, not necessarily pools. I do however support wells being available on the cave level :)
