Limited Characters

Postby Jfloyd » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:51 am

I know I hate to bring this up, again, but I feel that it's becoming important. (I know I quit, but that was playing, it doesn't mean I won't watch the game develop)
Accounts should be limited to 3 characters. I point out again, that no one, unless they fail with a character, will want to spend time on more than one.
Also, IP's should be logged. If more than...say 2 accounts is made, I'd suspect something fishy. I'm not trying to limit everyones fun, but I think people are getting
sick of all the Highschool sized drama, of he took that, so we killed him, and he had no right to attack me.
Also, the LP cost of the thieving skills should be raised, and idk if they are, but should be in there own seperate branch of skills. Really, I doubt anyone acctually wants to go around stealing things and plundering, because you can make anything you'd steal in 10 minutes.

Only two accounts? My two siblings and I all play.

I feel discriminated against! :(
The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.

This has been discussed before... I'm fairly sure you would have read the post and possibly contributed to it yourself.

Then why are you trying to prevent theft? If it only takes 10 minutes to make, make a new one/thing.

Because, I did the work first, I should have to do it a second time. It's like a parent yelling, they shouldn't have to do it twice :P

That's pretty obviously not true. Any metal product will take at least 10 minutes to get the mining and charcoal gathering done, that's assuming you've already got the infrastructure built (tools, kilns and smelters)
Any baked good requires a crop ready to harvest, which someone has to invest time in. A trip to a wild crop is going to take at least 5 minutes and then you've got no local infrastructure.

Leather products require hunting, killing, drying, tanning.

In fact I'd say that very little worthy of note in the game takes less than 10 minutes to construct/build/craft when you start considering the infrastructure.

If you can get away with it, thieving is the easy choice. The getting away with it bit is what makes it a non suitable option. Even exploiting alt's most people are going to get caught, so you've got to invest at least as much time into defending yourself as you do into the thievery skills to begin with... unless of course you're just griefing.

And the thief's thought is, "Well, they did the work for me, so I'll just take it from them to save time."

I like my alt. alhough i partly agree that most people don't want to spend even more time on an alt.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
