Make soil a depleting resource like Clay @ q10

There is no reason for soil to be a never-ending resource. It should run out, as with clay @10 to eventually nothing.

Might I also add that if the soil were to be "depleted" plants should not increase in quality at all upon harvesting. (It would still be difficult to even do that, because the soil would regenerate a point in 8 hours .)

I can see no cons and only pros to this mechanism being added to the game.

No, there would just be nothing gained when you dig, and thus no LP returned.

I'm fine with lowering or removing the LP gain from it (this seems to be your true motivation with the idea), but why would you remove the actual output? How does that make any sense?

Mud is different than clay though, as a usable resource.

Doesn't make sense when you change to the concept to soil. Unless you want to offer that dirt/soil are actually different items and soil is the only usable byproduct of digging.
