Raisin Butter Cakes

Postby Scilly_guy » Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:14 am

I thought this belonged in here as it is a critique rather than a bug:

Raisins give 5 hunger and 2 cha (via wiki)
Raisin Butter cakes give 25 hunger and 7 char

This seems the wrong way around to me, 5 raisins would fill you up the same as one bun and give 3 more feps. OK you might be able to make a better bun than your raisin q if you have good flour, butter and water, not to mention Kiln and Fuel Q, but thats a few ifs. Surely processed food should improve the hunger to fep ratio. There is also the fep bar reduction bonus from eat more variety, but still...

That is odd, I've never noticed that.

Eating 1 butter cake and 1 raisin is still often better than eating 6 raisins, though, because of the variety bonus.

its not the only unimpressive recipe. for example http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Fishsticks

Filet of Fish
.2L Batter
    Jar (Empty)
    Butter (1L Milk)
    Wheat Flour
    1L Milk
    Chicken Egg

Variety bonuses are good though.

Fish sticks aren't supposed to be impressive IMO. You can toss any fish into them so it's a catchall for leftovers.

What is the variety bonus exactly? I tried eating very low-FEP foods to figure it out.. my highest stat is 41, and the FEPs went:

41, 37, 33, 29, 25, 21, 17, then I levelled.

It looks like 10% of your total original FEP requirement.. but that sounds kinda crazy good because it means 10 foods will level you no matter how high you are.

i'll just leave this here
loftar wrote:Oh yes, I am sorry about that. When I said that the diversification bonus is 2√(max), the values for measuring FEPs is the internal integral representation, which is ten times what you see on the FEP bar. If you consider that, then your table makes perfect sense: 2√100 = 20, 2√49 ≈ 44, 2√121 ≈ 70, &c.

If you want to use the visible FEP values, then the formula, obviously, becomes (2√(max * 10)) / 10 = 2√(max) / √10 ≈ 0.632√(max).

Ohh.. so for me, 2 * sqrt(400) = 40.. it just happens to be 10% at this particular point.

Just eat the fish?

Sticks don't really seem worth the resources.
