Change new hearthling clothes

For new hearthlings, give them only a hide cloak instead of linen pants + shirt + leather cap. Looks more savage and wilderness-y.

Then give linen clothes and the starter hats (and the fox hat) some stats, so they're no longer cosmetic.

they should start naked. i always found it weird that you suddenly appear in the wilderness, ready to survive by yourself....with a fresh pile of new clothes to start the way.

Fuck no. Fox hats? Having reasons to where them? :(

Do agree with hide cloak, though :)

You want to be 'realistic', spawn with nothing! You gotta make your own clothing, and having a dried hide to make a hide cloak is more advanced than a starting hearthling knows.

And linen cloth is even more advanced than dried hide.

Naked newbies isn't a bad idea. Give nudity a slight (ie irrelevant to newbies, don't want to discourage them) debuff like your charisma is reduced by 1/2*((1000-constitution)/10)

Make them start out naked, and implement some kind of boots that can be made out of boughs so 99% of the new players don't die after spawning.

Interesting idea, but I'd be afraid of getting a Thorn in the Foot from all that running.
