Rats in caves

Postby RubyRed » Mon Jun 10, 2013 2:30 am

as odd as this might sound, caves feel kind of not alive. rats spawning in caves feels right to me (plus they would likely live there two). As much as rat is normaly a first day peace of food for many, it would add that bit of life to a cave.

Just a quck thought I have had for a while.

Or dragons and their treasure hoards!

Rats are boring

If creatures have to spawn in caves, it should be Trollkin, weak and only strong in numbers, which keep stalking the player in the darkness until they can gank him. They could also put Torches, Candles and that Prayer into play if light could be used to ward off or damage evil creatures.

Also glorious beardy dwarves which hate full nature characters.

I'm thinking of something like "King Of Dragon Pass".

I'drather see bats...guano(bat poo) was used world wide as fertilizer for centuries, so adding bats adds a way to(in the future) increase soil quality

Caves should most definately have some forms of wildlife, like you Ruby, I have thought this for awhile. At the moment they are spooky but dull, bats would be an obvious choice and should be found in caves, either as curios or an early food, like rats - but harder to catch, or even aggressive as you reach lower levels.

Also i'd like to see fungi - some edible, some poisonous - the latter could be healed by drinking lots of water maybe.
Moths - common ones could be used as fishing bait in cave pools, with a rare brightly coloured one as a curio.
And finaly - jewels, random and rare to be used in crafting and/or curio's.

I also had some idea's centered around finding cave drawings or ancient skeletons - but with the introduction of the skulls it sort of nullifies them. But, yes, more life in caves pls. :)

I like amanda's ideas! Jewels would be pretty neat :D
Also those fungi could be positive and negative at the same time. Eating them COULD cause posion, but not always. Like, there should be a chance to get a posion effect on you, but they give good FEP.
Hope you have a great day

I could have sworn there were gems from mining back in the day and they were removed. I could be remembering it wrong, though. Either way, they'd be nice to get rarely when mining around to break up the tedium of it.
