fishing as another food industry

Postby haelmut » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:02 am

Hello. Im sorry if this was suggested before.

Main idea is to make fishing as another food industry so we could have oportunity to choise between fishing and baking, or anything else what can appear in future. Like entirely another method of gaining food but not worse as it is atm.

Fishing is not as safe as farming coz you can get killed so this is a serious choise. And this must be rewarded with ability to find some fine curios or simething else.

1. Better and bigger fish.

Add bigger and better fish that u can catch when you will got enough survival and needed fishing gear quality (or you can add fishing skill vs farming).

For example shark, you will need metal hook for it and enough survival to gain a chance to catch it + some fishing pole Quality. Shark can require 2*5 inventory space and give same amoung of food servings, also maybe you can find some objects in sharks stomach  . Giant krabs, whales, jellyfish etc. Non of cool fish must not be able to effectevly catch with afk-fishing but must not be booring to catch while playing. I think making them to require solid inventary space will be enough.

2. Better and harder-to-make seafood recipes.

To make another option from baking. You can add some salting barrel vs oven or something like that.

3. Faster fishing with lure with better fishing gear quality and survival. Like fishing speed = fishing gear Quality * survival.

4. Fishing boats. With 4 container slots but a bit slower than usual boat.

5. Maybe fishing snares that will do your fishing duty for you but can be destroyed\stealed by other players. But im not sure in this.

6. Less random in when-and-where to catch desired fish. In order to be other food industry we need to catch desired fish constantly. Moon calendar and bite is AWESOME idea but it does not work coz i catch compleatly random fish with same lure in same circumstances. It works in real life why not in HnH.

7. And PLEASE! Constant fireplace for roasting meat. Im tired of making fireplaces.

Thank you for reading.

Im all for new food types and recipes. However the game is set in central Europe, mainly Germany. Most fishing is river or lake types.

This is a half descent idea, but keep in mind fishing is more so meant as the way to get good food when you start, not for big villages. Fishing spots get fished our pretty fast, the the food is all low q useually.

If they make it so fishing spots came back atleast, that would make fishing much better. Just AFK fishing with an alt is an ok way to get good amounts of food safely. The food wouldnt be very good compared to farmed food's, but it wouldn't be that bad.

This is very untrue. Depending on the quality of your node, you can supply an entire village with a steady stream of good quality food. We had 3 people who fished last world, and they kept us in constant supply. It's a great thing for noobs to do.

wow you know the earliest human towns were built around fishing not farming, and farming towns(once they came about) were actually far more dangerous than other types of towns/villages...

I like the idea of more fishing stuff!

Ya its kind of like clay, some places go away fast and sometimes last ages. Once I had a never ending clay spot, it was very nice :) But most spots run out fairly quickly, and are q10, so overall it is still better for noobs. In real life a river wont get fished out of fish by you using a fishing pole, so I still support the fish coming back. It would make them much more useful because later in the world a lot of the fishing spots are gone. Also clay spots should come back too.

If fishers and anglers wouldn't reset young fishes into rivers a lot of them in europe where empty already ...

Fishing spots don't "go" - they get fished empty and after a while you can fish there again - and clay is a different matter

I do wish you could like chum the waters to increase the regeneration of a fishing node. Like throw in your Intenstines and Leeches get more fish. Quality would probably be effected too.

A node is already basically a farm except it has no ability to grind q. I'm just proposing an ability to spend resources to speed up the process or maybe effect the type of fish in the node.
