Why do I have to eat so much food?

I've eaten the meat from two whole cows, one rabbit, and probably 50-60 apples since i logged on about 5 hours ago and I've never gotten above half a green bar for hunger. Is it because I'm eating such basic/low-level food? I've pretty much been starving or very hungry 95% of the time since i started playing. It really doesn't make sense that I could eat an entire cow and not be full.

Be happy you're eating so much-eating makes you strong if you do it correctly. There's no way you could take down a brick wall if you didn't eat hundreds of bears and or boars.

Yes, sort of. It was made by someone less than super-intelligent, or with a worse grasp of game mechanics. It shows how much of the -full- bar it would fill up, which is 10% of your total hunger. If you divide the number by 10, that is the amount of your total hunger it will fill.

It's been mentioned before that characters get hungry too quickly, I think it's pretty crazy that you need about 10 square meals a day to sustain yourself, it also leads to stat grinding. I'd be much happier if hunger was slowed down by an order of magnitude

Seconded. I think the devs have said that they realize that there is a problem with the hunger system.

BTW, be careful about eating too much cow and bread....its filling, but you will over-raise your Con and have a hard time getting other stats up.

I find it really irritating that the most filling, easy to get foods (bread, apple pie, chorizo) all pump con.

After working on my wall yesterday and shoving the entire contents of a bear and a pair of pigs down my throat and still needing more, I have to agree. The numbers need some severe tweaking.

I think it would be nice to slow down food intake by about 50% and allow us to gain stats though working as well. So you get strength for killing, int for planting trees or making food, etc. So far 90% of your time is spent gathering, processing, and eating food. It should be about 30-50% at most.
