Having mines produce boulders, and then chipping the boulders for ore, would drastically reduce mine-sprawl, as well as allowing entire boulders to be moved to the smelter area for processing, hence creating a chain of labor for metal working...

I think that also, structural support and varying ore qualities would also help to make mines look better. If there where clusters and veins of ore, only those areas would be removed, and we could expect exploratory tunnels searching for them.

Of course, both of those are planned, I'm sure.
Surprise.

Hmm, that's less than my average when I was still balanced between nature and industry. If you are mining with a nature character, then of course you'll get bad results.

If you indeed meant to type _cast_ iron that is, and meant a full smelter. If you are talking about wrought iron ratios per smelter (not per finery) then that's probably about right. That's also why my camp has 4 smelters and 2 fineries.

I'd like to add a few more things to the previous list, it seems to fit here:
1) dead landscape: for new players who start in the center the whole world seem dead: no trees left, (almost) no towns left, just ruins. This is sad. It would be nice to have some more interesting elements that stay permanent to prevent the center of the map becoming deserted in the further development.

2) the log cabin is tiny: after spending a lot of time and wood into buildingmy first cabin i was excited to finally see my new place... Unfortunately there is not much space. I had expected something more like the mines: Huge space where you can set up a whole different design than outside (like the carpets, if I use these inside the house its crowded).

3) LP for consuming vs. producing: i.e. if I chop trees down and cut them into pieces I get more LPs than for getting the clay, the water, putting it into a treeplanters pot, letting it grow (with the danger of losing it again) and finally planting it. This is not even. Planting trees/producing goods should be more rewarding than consuming them. How about getting more points the further your tree grows not just for the action of putting everything together?

anyway I'm looking forward to see the new map!
