How can a noob do any sort of damage without criminal skills?

I believe this would put a good deal of stress on the server, trying to calculate if an area is enclosed. Think loftar/jorb said something about it a while back in a like "fog of war" suggestion thread.

They don't, it is a jumping point for a reincarnated character to summon-kill or raid an enemy. The only defense to this is personal claims. It has been exploited by a few groups already.

There is another one I reported that is even worse than the one here in which there is NO defense to and requires very minimal effort.

I'm pretty sure it is. The spawning mechanic checks so that there are no obstacles in between the hearth fire you're spawning by and the chosen spawn spot. That's why you can get those "There is no room by that hearth fire" errors.

Bumping because we need this. The day I built my palisade a random hearthfire spawned inside (I did not claim everything then). Poor guy was stuck inside for an hour, between the wall and the claim before I came online and opened the doors to let him out.

It is working perfectly.

Poor fella, but I don't think that wall jumping was his particular issue. Most likely, he just had the misfortune of spawning in a spot where you had enclosed off and you had a front door claimed by not the rest of it - something I see reasonably often.

Sucks to be him, but on the upside, he got to make a new friend on startup.
