This needs to be fixed, I don't know if the servers are over capacity or if it's just a matter of distance (I'm in Mexico) but I do know it isn't my computer, I've played this using Ender client in internet cafes and I get the same problem.

The main problem this causes is with combat, if you're plowing a field and the game lags so bad that you're completely booted out and have to log back in, okay, no problem the field is still there you can keep plowing and planting crops. However if you're hunting game and the server decides it needs to take a shit and you're the guy it's shitting out, well now you lost a damn fine hat or some armor or, in the worst case scenario, your life.

This can't continue happening, I get booted off the server on average 6 times per session, half the time I'm not even doing anything more strenuous than walking out my gate. Just now I got killed by a bear because aggroing it seems to have caused me to lag out (no I'm not complaining about LP loss nor am I quitting), the server quite simply needs to be upgraded for this game to reach its full potential. If it's a question of money, then more people need to donate and this post becomes a critique of the community being stingy and not donating 2 dollars each.

Problem is in your connection or on your computer. For everyone else game works perfectly. I almost never get booted from server (only when it is server crash). Lag is much much better than w3 and w4, trust me. New server is 100x better than old one. If there is 600+ people playing at same time, there is little lag time to time, but not to be unplayable.

As I wrote many times I would like to see some more realms (maybe 2 or 3) with different rules of game play. For example: one realm with new curiosity system, one realm with old system and maybe one with mix of both (we all know curiosity system is flawed). And of course I would put limit to each realm: 400-600 max people playing at same time. Maybe one realm with less death penalty (25% max LP loss?) Yeah I would pay monthly up to 5€, for a game that would give me that. But nothing is gonna change...
P.S.: maybe devs could set up another realm on same server with that different rules just to see which one would be more played

Looking at the thread this seems to be the case, I guess the blame here goes to Telmex as at first I thought it was my computer but when I played HnH in the cafe down the street I had the same problem, so it might be the connection, Mexico isn't particularly well known for having the best internet, I have a "premium" package and am supposed to have 2.0 mbps, but really it's around 1.2-1.8 mbps depending on how Telmex feels that day.

How do? And would you mind deleting/moving this thread, I'll leave which to your discretion as a Mod , but this topic is obviously no longer relevant to this board.

There isn't much to investigate on my end that I know how, the only thing I could and knew how to investigate was whether or not it was just my laptop, and I did and found it wasn't, as to the second, that's why I voiced my concern so the game could improve, but I had to voice it to find out it was misplaced, you unpleasant person you.

tracert moltke.seatribe.se on command prompt.

I find it funny that most Argentina international connections pass thru Mexico/USA before going anywhere in Europe (iirc it's hosted at Germany atm, or at least my tracert goes thru .DE servers after .US servers) and besides the normal server lag that I used to have on previous worlds, it's working like charm for me nowadays.

i really dont see why people choose not to use their first account and still have to feel unfair for their own choice.

your going to have to get more computer savy if you want to fix your problem.

first of all, can you log in immediatly after getting booted? if not, do a trace route in cmd console and try and figure out why its not getting back to you. if the game was laggin, i think you would just be rubber banding. not getting logged out.

i get logged out as well, but it has to do with me getting corrupted messages from the server. ender modified the client to ignore them for me and my brother but we will still randomly crash from things. to see if this is your problem, your going to have to change your run.bat file so you keep error messages.

It doesn't matter if it is 2D or 3D. OpenGL do all 2D as 3D. Every sprite is 3D object in openGL. So this don't even matter. DirectX has 2D library different than 3D.
Problem with HnH is that there is a lot of sprites that needs to be drawn and updated (example: plants) and this can take some serious CPU times. Grouping that sprites and pre-rendering would solve problem, but devs don't like idea.
Solution: pre-render all sprites like plants except on tiles where players stand or simply: use ender client and use simplify plants function.

While that may be true in theory, they are quite different in practice. The greatest difference when rendering 3D is that drawing commands can be batched (thanks to the depth buffer), which speeds things up by orders of magnitude. The 2D model of the Haven client requires precise control over the drawing order, so batching is not really possible. I'm rather sure that is what causes the greatest amount of performance problems in the Haven client.
