Amount of coins = how big your claim can be

So make it LP first for increasing claim up to a certain size, then require tin coins until another limit, then copper coins, etc until gold coins up to a final limit.

As for villages make it so that gold coins have no limit how large a village can get and the required amount to increase village size is 1/2 that of a personal claim.

So make the stake more of a treasure chest and coins will determine how big the claim can be and if people reach the stake they can vandalize it and loot the stake if it does have coins.

This can finally give real value to coins.

but if we did this, then coins would actualy have a purpose.

Coins that are useless, eh?

Hmmm... idea! What if the game, say, were to elect a nobledwarfman for each claim, who makes unreasonable demands for nigh-unobtainable items, and satisfying those demands would prevent your claim from spiralling down into a tormented cycle of madness and vengeance degrading?

Yes, I feel guilty when I cut down trees.

Stupidest. Idea. Evah!

1. Screws new players over.

2. Metal is ridiculously common and so wouldn't solve any actual problem.

Thinking it over coins would just confuse everything... i should stop thinking of a use for coins.

In that case how about a mix of increase in LP needed to increase claim size and something similar to village authority or upkeep as someone mentioned earlier?

Lp can be used to increase the claim size but instead of the current 10 lp per square make it double, so to move the claim east would be 50 lp, but to move it north would take 6 tiles x 10 lp x 2 (1x2) so it would be 120 lp. And if they want to increase it again lets say west it would be 6 tiles x 10 lp x 4 (2x2) = 240 lp. South would be 7 tiles x 10 lp x 6 (2x3) = 420 lp. It would make it harder to have a large claim.

As for upkeep idk, but i still do like the idea of being able to pilfer the stake (stealing lp) would kinda get rid of lp banks or just make people build giant walls to protect it.

How about reading the rest of the thread?

loftar and Jorb both are infamous about getting on IRC and chatting away about various features and plans, but often times don't post anything on the forums. While this isn't can't be considered a definite plan, it's obvious that major plans will be in the works to change things.

Pretty sure Jorb mentioned it somewhere here on the forum. Might have been in the Salem Forum. I dunno, but he sounded pretty stoked about it. lol

I get the strange feeling that someone already thought this one up......
