10% shp is a bit too much... Imagine getting of a mountain

Also your character would have to be pretty retarded to hurt himself that badly from like a 1½ meter jump.

Maybe a stamina drain instead of shp damage. Just as SacreDoom stated above, you hearthling should be very retarded to get hurt from such a fall.
I was bored so I made a little picture with stone stairs and retarded hearthlings:

That looks quite real. This stair idea is superb.

Right ... should only be possible to be build upwards.
Just ditch a ton of sand to create a slide from above (nope, it won't allow you to walk back up.)

It would be kind of dumb to have 1 way stairs. The sand slope actually seems like a nice idea for players without resources/lazy players, because chipping 100 stones takes quite a long time without a pickaxe.

Also, how about a skill called Climbing. It would unlock a "Climb" option in the Adventure Menu, which when used on cliffs would make an animation of your hearthling climbing the cliff, or maybe just teleport him/her up the cliff. It would cost 500 LP, and climbing up/down a cliff would drain 5% stamina or 10 units from your hunger bar. I even made a little climb button for the adventure menu, but I can't upload it right now. I will upload it later.

EDIT: Basic terraforming options would actually allow you to remove those pesky logs stuck on the cliffs :D

Producing cliffs seems like a bad idea. Palisades and brickwalls would become useless, and a lot of illegal HV's would start popping up all over the place. But then again, you could remove cliffs.

Yep. But nobody sad anything about the stairs themselves being one way now did they. ;) (building it would be a one way process.)
