How can we revitalize trade?

Well, if Sabinati guaranteed me that I can redeem his money for certain goods (ie a currency backed by cheese/metal/whatever) in the goon city, I'd take his word for it. Basically, the paper money is transferable IOU.

I think iou's are a great idea, they could be backed by villages and the villages would ensure that their villagers didn't misuse the notes because if they don't their money would become valueless. Notes could be authenticated with a signature, which can only be forged with the forgery skill.

I'm not saying paper money wouldn't work, only the special rights to produce it thing. An NPC would probably be the only true way to regulate this, maybe the ability to build banks, which let you ahve access to your money. But, I can see no way for it to work without NPC's or an extremely trust worthy group of players (maybe even Jorn or Loftar themselves.)
